Contents Page Draft

This contents page has contents written across the top in the same font as the masthead on the front cover with the logo on the side to keep the connotations of a contents, I have also included a editors comments on the side along with a picture to show the editors face, I have three images on the front but then I put a layer around it to make it look like a photograph with a page in the captions area. On the right hand side we have the different sections along with the pages of interest from each section. I have made the the side with the different section brown because it matches the logo of Dub Dog

This double page spread is taken from Mixmag magazine. This magazine has a target audience of young adults both male and female who are interested in dance music. The magazine sometimes specialises in drum and bass. The double page spread focuses on Joris Voorn who is a house and techno DJ. There is an image of a young adult who is sitting in a seemingly expensive chair but is however slouching on it to show his youth along with his clothes being quite modern but sporting a quite youthful jeans and canvas trainers to have relaxed look to him. There is also a quote from the person being interview stating something that could be possibly controversial in terms of what is said about other DJ’s, it is done in white so that it grabs the readers attention. The first section of it shows the DJ’s name in a different colour to show emphasis around him and hints at the fact its based around him and a sentence that maybe the audience is intrigued with. The way that the text has been layed out is in column format which makes the first page more presentable and easier to read and it works well because its is an interview with the person on the opposite page. On the first page with text on it, it has one image on it to show that the page is text heavy to make space for a large image on the other side

Questionnaire analysis

My questionnaire asks different types of questions which include demographic and physiographic questions. The questionnaire came back with positive results. My group received alot of information from the questionnaire, such as the genre people liked the most. Dub-step was a popular choice so we decided to create a magazine around this genre. The questionnaire also revealed what we should focus on to attract customers. The questionnaire told us that people are more attracted to the images and that is what attracts people the most to a sucessful magazine. That is why we focus more on the images in all our front covers and try to make it the most apparent. The questionnaire was a huge help in this project in trying to find out the key focus in this magazine design.

On this magazine front cover I have used a masthead which can be well recognizable for people along with a logo that many people can instantly recognize,the reason why I have made my logo like this is because it represents the Masthead by a dog that has headphones, the reason why I have made this masthead like this is because it represents a soundwave that is to do with music. Underneath the masthead I have included a tagline which is a catchy motto that many people may remember for future issues. On the front of the magazine you see an image for the advertisement of a free poster which may intise the reader to buy the magazine.I have gone with a blue and white theme which I think is not really effective to connvey the magazine which I shall change for the final design because it doesnt really go with anything else in the magazine. I have included an image of myself which shows you the target auidence along with me holding a speaker to give the auidence of what themes my magazine is about such as loud music which isrepresented in the masthead aswell

Setting: A recording studio. It is very likely that I will be using the schools music room for this as it already fits the criteria required of my chosen setting. Also I have taken pictures at the entrance of the College to hint at a are where people of this demography may tend to hang around. I have also got pictures outside and in the arches representing possible 'hang out' spots

Equipment: As Dub step is created electronically without instruments I will be using electronic equipment such as a laptop, DJ turntables and possibly a synthesizer. Also we have used headphones to show that it is related to what we are doing such as hanging around and listening to music also we were using our phones

Clothing: Casual clothing e.g. a t-shirt or a hooded top and huge earphone to link back to the dub step theme. The clothes that we used at the the entrance of the college is hoodies and casual T-Shirts

This person is in a casual shirt to show that it is not just aimed at its typical audience but trying to reach out to a wider range

This is another image that is done to create an urban effect by the rigid background while the person is pointing towards the camera to show his confidence

The group of boys in a lowly lighted area creates an eerie effect which is also seen as people who are not usually willing to talk to the interviewers but are still quite talented

This is the same group of boys but they are a little more confident and are now posing towards the camera

This picture is done of a speaker so that it represents the loudness and bass of the genre
