5.How did you attract/address your audience?

Our group classed the music artist in the Dub Step scene. The appearance also attracted the audience because of the background which is a wall also there are colours which are much brighter than the rest of the text; there are some advertisements on the magazine which also persuade the reader to buy the issue and by using this main image along with the wall would appeal to the young persons personality. A lot of teens are use to being linked with hanging around near walls. I use some slang terms in my magazine that only our target audience and youthful people would be able to understand.

4: who would be the audience for your media product?

4: who would be the audience for your media product?

My target audience are teenagers/young adults aged 16-19, most notably white males who are 17 years old and are college students who also listens to Dub Step, their clothing is influenced by the English Urban look. The dress sense which these teenagers have is loose fitted clothing along with a hat and a hooded jumper .Their clothes are usually colour coordinated ,normally wearing a tracksuit in which the clothes will have to be matching. Normally they would be at college during the week and then after college times they will tend to hang around on the streets , during the weekend they would be hanging around with more friends and trying to enjoy themselves.

IPC media would be the most suitable to mass produce my magazine because they are UK's leading publisher with over 90 Brands. My magazine is intended for the younger audience so it would entice more adolescents into the industry bringing them a wider range of audience. The organization already dipenses well known music magazines so they could have the essential knowledge and devoted regulars who will most likely be fascinated by the genre of Dub Step. IPC Media produces over 60 iconic media brands, with print alone reaching almost two thirds of UK women and 42% of UK men – almost 26 million UK adults – while our websites collectively reach over 20 million users every month. These are the type of statistics that would get this type of magazine of the ground since its a Dub Step magazine which is trying to make a name for itself somewhere, this would be ideal because of the renown that this company has. Another reason why I would choose this music publisher is that its one of the only magazines that actually deal with the Urban side of magazines such as RWD magazine which looks at the more grime and Rap side of Urban music.

2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The genre is Dub-Step. The audience which I purposely targeted is teenagers in their late school or college students, roughly from aged 16-19. We give constructive depiction of this social group because this age group tends to be know as a troublesome or difficult years since it is at the peak of adolescence
I have chosen this photo from vibe magazine showing the image of Eminem to compare to my front cover photo of me and explain how my magazine represents a particular social group. Both of the people in a way which have similar camera shots. The photo of the artist show him holding a speaker towards the camera shows that he wants the reader and the audience to digest the connotations of the magazine, the photo of Eminem shows him staring into the camera lens and this suggests that he want the reader to try and decrypt his mind. Both facial expressions on the artist are similar, however the artist on the Dub Step magazine is more of a cheeky smile, which makes the magazine look more light hearted however with the power of the speaker to influence the power of the music genre. The artist is wearing a dark coloured jacket with a dark coloured shirt underneath whereas Eminem is wearing a black vest with a chain which both types of clothing would be the types of clothes my audience would wear depending of the season. Both artist have a look of conviction towards the camera which shows there passion for their music, this is mirrored by the passion that young urban people tend to have for there types of music genres.

The name of my music magazine is DubDog. My group members and me chose this name as our masthead plainly states the genre of the music that will be featured in the monthly. The name is small and it is alliteration. I chose to have a fixed colour scheme for the magazine because I wanted to have the colour to match on each page and on each section the background image remained the same. This would give my magazine a unique style that will be diverse to other magazines that have plain backgrounds. This design was encouraged by my research of different magazines which showed me that many magazines looked pretty similar when it came to the layout of the page. The magazine that inspired me the most is Mix-Mag which showed me some good conventions however currently there is no Dub Step magazines. We decided to follow most of the regular conventions of music magazines when producing our merchandise. The main conventions we have in our front cover includes a masthead, a price, free give away, a issue number and a date with a picture of a artist.
In the front cover I have used:
-A masthead however I have created my own one which is quite unique and has a dominant colour
-Bar codes and prices which is shown clearly on the bottom right corner similar to what a real magazine would have.
-Subheadings and informative text for a short preview of the magazine holds.
-A dominant image in the frame of the front cover.

These magazines both have text which are either down the right side column or the left hand column which follow a colour code throughout the front cover along with a main image to convey a message along with a background that matches the effect of the genre and the main image. They both have mastheads that should be well recognizable throughout every place where they are getting sold. They both have names of celebrities which makes the reader to purchase to buy the magazine. My magazine however also has a tag line which is used to make the magzine more poular. However on my magazine there is a bar code and a price at the front where I'm assuming that on the other magazine, the bar code and price will be placed at the back. A website is also on both magazines which shows you that it is taken the ability to acess technology into hand. Both magazine also takes the audiences feedbacks into hand and my magazine has a free offer to the reader to make the auidence feel more engaged
Contents page includes:
-The realistic page numbers
-Colour coordinated theme
-Images that relates to the pages
-The subtitle of page and information about it
-Month of the issue

Double page spread includes:
-The main image of the music artist
-Text filled page
-Quote from the artist in bright eye catching colours
-Smaller images on the other page

Programme I Used

I used the programme called Adobe Photoshop to create and edit my pictures, background and it help me to create my own logo along with my own effects on each section such as on the contents page I included a rip effect on the left hand side, on the front page I've made the background a wall which I have insinuated into the other pages and finally on the double page spread I've put a police banner across the picture. I found it quite easy to do each section of the magazine solely on this programme and during the assignment I never really found it difficult to use this programme
