Media Evaluation of Preliminary Task

The media product that I have created is a magazine front cover for a college where students and teachers should be able easily interpret the magazine for specific uses for a teacher as well as a student. The way I have created this magazine is that it supposed to replicate a mass produced magazine so therefore it has to have a masthead which is well known and recognisable, the price with the barcode along with the main image on the front being at least a quarter of the page big. On the font page I also have a brief summary of some of the topics inside the magazine.
Yes my media product does do things differently because it has a multi coloured background in which normally a magazine will have a certain colour that the magazine will have to be based on, in contrast to the target audience, this could tell the reader that it is open to most audiences to read even though it is targeted primarily at college students and teachers. Another aspect that my magazine has differently is that it is not a sophisticated magazine which has a lot of serious subjects but has serious subjects but is toned down for ease of use.
The social groups that my media project follow is college students and college teachers as a secondary social group. The way that this magazine does this is that on the front page it has brief summaries of themes that are usually in focal apprehension to do with college students such as: sexual health, workload and coursework deadlines. The reason why this is done is because my area of expertise would be in being a college student. Another reason why I have decided to do this is because I am passionate about work to do with magazine production and youthful subject matters.
The place where my media project would be distributed would be inside of a college, particularly my own college which would be concentrating on the educational as well as aesthetic side to the college. However, the topics inside doesn’t directly bond to the City Academy students but generally all college students so that means that all students could relate and be able to divulge into the work.
The people that will be the audience for my media project will be college students that may have problems or issues that effect them as students and them as their age range, my secondary target audience will be college teachers because they will be able to see what is concerning young children in their college also seeing if they are truly having issues with work with the response sections in the magazines.
I have attracted my audience by making the front page of the magazine colourful and approachable by all types of young adults, I have taken into consideration that this could be the age where people of my age start to realise their independence so therefore each person would have their own taste in something. Also the magazine being could prove a very popular choice in making because the recognition of the magazine would almost proliferate because it will be one the only monthly to be free. This would make a good choice because this would mean that it wouldn’t be running the risk of it being a washout because of the pricing being to high for students of the modern day and age to cope for in particular because of the fees increase.
I have learnt that magazines are great for getting across a message because of the effortlessness of use and the knack of being able to show others what has been said to your friends and be able to get the evidence around quite easily without the hassle of getting an issue or subject wrong.
The things that I have learnt from this task is that there is a lot of background information along with interactivity following the progress of constructing a magazine however I realise that everything that you put on your magazine has to reflect your target audience and what their competence is in relevance to the magazine and that you have to stick with the implication of a real magazine.

Questionnaire Analysis

I gave out my questionnaire to various males and females in the 6th Form college to see their views on what they expect to see in a magazine that is based on R’n’B genre where the majority of the questioners’ were males with four out of the fifteen being females. I found out that most people wouldn’t mind paying for a magazine and that most of them don’t mind listening to more than one type of music genre also people have a specific artist that they like the most. Most people have heard of R’n’B music and have a knowledge of R’n’B artists. Most people obtain their music through either Internet downloads or mobile downloads, telling me that the majority like to listen to music but however not pay for it.
I also asked a group of students about magazine that is in the loop. Responses were varied and quite interesting to hear what people mainly liked. One student says that they like the fact that the main subject is over the title which shows that the magazine has confidence that the readers are familiar with the magazines and they are reputable enough for the public to know what the magazine has.
Some people just enjoy the fact that it has random sections such as ‘’what’s hot as what’s not’’.
Some people just like the fact celebrities are on the front cover which makes the magazine look cool, and gives a brief summary of what to expect on the inside of it.
Another person said yet again that they like what’s hot and what’s not because it keeps them up with all the social going on in the industry that they like and gets straight to the point instead of going on the web and having to suffer with inconvenient information

Personal Audit

EVALUATION
My main strengths are in print, to do with the desinging side of it such as using photoshop and other picture editing software also i am quite skilled in video creation. In general I can use and analyse any piece of video equipment or video clips in addition I can work fairly efficently in a team environment. I'm going to make the most out of these skills so that it will be most effective in the coursework unit.
My weaknesses will probably be the evaluation of the research because im not really use to online blogs or forums also im not really use to using audio visual software to implicate a podcast.
